- Valid
- The register returned the EORI as valid. This is a registration check, not a certification of the business.
- Invalid
- The register did not return the number as valid. Check the full number and prefix with the business before using it for a customs declaration.
- Error or unavailable
- An unavailable register is not an invalid EORI. Try again later or check directly with the relevant customs authority.

What is an EORI number?+
EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. It identifies businesses and people in customs processes across Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the EU. Customs authorities use it to process and clear shipments.
How do I check if an EORI number is valid?+

Does a failed EORI check mean the number is invalid?+
No. A service error or unavailable register does not establish whether an EORI is valid. Check the source and result message, then try again later or use the relevant customs authority's service.
Can I find an EORI number by company name?+
This checker needs an EORI number; it does not search by company name. For GB numbers, HMRC may return the registered name and address if the business agreed to share them. A missing company name does not by itself mean the EORI is invalid.
Why does an EORI number need to be valid?+
An invalid or mistyped EORI on a customs declaration blocks the shipment at the border. Importers, freight forwarders and customs brokers validate the EORI of their counterparties before filing.
